When TorrentFreak reported that Media Defender (MD) was behind the video site MiiVi, they cast doubt on us. Now, in what is surely the biggest BitTorrent leak ever, nearly 700mb of MD’s emails have gone public. When MD’s Randy Saaf found out we rumbled MiiVi he said, “This is really fucked.” This is too, but much more so.

When we reported in July that an Anti-Piracy Gang Launches their own Video Download Site to Trap People and that the company was called Media Defender and, as anyone who aims to be a credible news resource would, we checked and double checked our sources. We said, with some confidence:

Media Defender, a notorious anti piracy gang working for the MPAA, RIAA and several independent media production companies, just launched their very own video upload service called “miivi.com”. The sole purpose of the site is to trap people into uploading copyrighted material, and bust them for doing so.

However, in comments made to Ars technica, Media Defender’s Randy Saaf chose to rubbish our claims, calling it an ‘accidentally un-secured internal project’… mehr…

TPB files charges against media companies

Thanks to the email-leakage from MediaDefender-Defenders we now have proof of the things we’ve been suspecting for a long time; the big record and movie labels are paying professional hackers, saboteurs and ddosers to destroy our trackers.

While browsing through the email we identified the companies that are also active in Sweden and we have tonight reported these incidents to the police. The charges are infrastructural sabotage, denial of service attacks, hacking and spamming, all of these on a commercial level.

The companies that are being reported are the following:

And what is the most beautiful thing about a person: his soul. Marsellis Wallace had sold his soul to the devil, and was trying to buy it back. The three kids in the beginning of the movie were the devil’s helpers. And remember that when the kid at the end came out of the bathroom with a “hand cannon,” Jules and Vincent were not harmed by the bullets. “God came down and stopped the bullets,” because they were saving a soul. It was divine intervention.

Ich rate allen die Firefox als Webbrowser benutzen unbedingt auf die neueste Version 2.0.0.7 zu updaten. Denn dort wird unter anderem das in meinem Blog aktuelle Problem mit Quicktime behoben. So lässt sich wesentlich sicherer Surfen im Internet!

Firefox 2.0.0.7 schließt QuickTime-Lücke
Zu Grunde liegendes Problem soll schon länger bekannt sein

Eine neue Version des Browsers Firefox schließt die kürzlich entdeckte Sicherheitslücke, die im Zusammenspiel mit QuickTime auftritt. Über eine manipulierte QuickTime-Datei können Angreifer so JavaScript in Firefox ausführen.
Wenn das QuickTime-Plug-In in Firefox eine entsprechend präparierte qtl-Datei öffnete, konnte beliebiger JavaScript-Code in den Browser eingeschleust werden. Sofern ein Firefox-Nutzer über Administrationsrechte auf seinem Computer verfügte, soll es zudem möglich gewesen sein, beliebigen Programmcode auch außerhalb von Firefox zu starten.

Die Firefox-Entwickler haben nun die Version 2.0.0.7 ihres Browsers veröffentlicht, die das Problem behebt und ansonsten keine Änderungen mitbringt. Nutzer des QuickTime-Plug-Ins sollten daher auf die neue Firefox-Version aktualisieren.

Das zu Grunde liegende Sicherheitsleck in QuickTime soll angeblich schon seit September 2006 bekannt sein, ohne dass Apple eine Aktualisierung veröffentlicht hat.

Ich finde es sehr interessant was momentan auf dem Musikmarkt abläuft. Die Suisa erhebt meiner Meinung nach völlgi unverhältnismässig hohe und ungerechtfertigte Gebühren auf die MP3 Player, Apple verärgert die Kunden auf dem Markt mit dem neuen iPhone und nun doppelt Apple noch nach und macht die neuen iPods zu Geräten die nur noch mit Tricks mit anderer Software als mit iTunes zusammenarbeiten. Da soll mir bitte noch jemand sagen, dass Apple die bessere Firmenphilosophie als Microsoft hat… *pff*

Ich finde solche Dinge gerade von einer Firme wie Apple sehr peinlich. Aber bitte sehr, es gibt ja Leuten denen macht es Spass sich ins eigene Bein zu schiessen…

Linux-Anwender gucken in die Röhre

Apple hat bei seinen neuen iPods, die CEO Steve Jobs Anfang September 2007 vorstellte, offensichtlich die Zugriffsmöglichkeit von iTunes-Alternativen gesperrt. Das Blog ipodminusitunes berichtet, dass die neuen iPods nicht mehr mit Musiksoftware zusammen arbeiten, die es so bislang z.B. erlaubte, auch unter Linux Musik auf die mobilen Musikspieler zu kopieren.
Das Blog berichtet, dass nunmehr eine Prüfsumme die iPod-Titeldatenbank sichert, so dass Programme wie die populären iPod-Tools wie gtkpod oder Rhythmbox nicht mit den neuen Geräten zusammen arbeiten können. Aber auch Window-Nutzer, die anstelle von iTunes Programme wie Winamp, Ephpod oder diverse andere nutzen, um ihre Geräte mit neuer Musik zu bespielen, haben Pech gehabt.

Natürlich versucht man nun, die Schutzeinrichtung zu umgehen und es wieder möglich zu machen, auch ohne iTunes bwz. ohne Windows oder Mac OS die Apple-Unterhaltungselektronik nutzen zu können. Ob dies mit Reverse Engineering möglich ist, wird sich bald heraus stellen.

Betroffen sind nach Angaben des Blogs ipodminusitunes die neuen Geräte der Nano-Reihe, der iPod Classic sowie der iPod Touch. Versucht man hier die iTunes-Datenbank zu ändern, meldet der iPod, dass keine Dateien auf dem Gerät gespeichert sind. Apple hatte diese Änderung nicht mitgeteilt
