Der Reader verwendet sogenanntes E-Paper mittels eInk. In dem e-Paper schwimmen kleine Kügelchen und in diesen weiße und schwarze Farbstoffe in einer transparenten Flüssigkeit. Da die Farbstoffe elektrisch geladen sind, bewegen sie sich je nach angelegtem elektrischen Feld an die Oberfläche der Kügelchen. Hierdurch entsteht an der Displayoberfläche ein schwarzer oder ein weißer Bildpunkt. Die energiesparende Displayvariante behält den Bildinhalt auch nach Abschalten der Stromzufuhr. Dadurch entsteht ein guter Lesekomfort auch bei starker Sonneneinstrahlung.
